Back in Black IPA

21st Amendment Brewery (San Leandro, CA)
"Inspired by Paul Revere’s midnight ride, we rebelled against the British style IPA, embraced the more aggressive American version and then recast it in bold, brave, defiant black. Our Black IPA is a Declaration of Independence from the tyranny of the expected."

Beautiful pour. Opaque black with a foamy tan head that hangs around awhile.
Faint malts on the nose. Not particularly aromatic.
Crisp, slightly sweet with a hint of citrus and pine. Definitely get the roasted malts, but the flavors are really well balanced. Finishes with a mild citrus bite.
I like this beer ... a lot!. Certainly my favorite from 21st.

6.8% ABV, 65 IBU
