Freedom Reserve Red Lager

Anheuser Busch (Fairfield, CA)
"This red lager is brewed with toasted barley grains for a slightly sweet aroma with a touch of hops, a rich caramel malt taste, and a smooth finish with a hint of molasses."

This caught my eye since it was merchandised among the craft beers at the market I frequent. I think I paid $6.25 for a six, which seems just about right, plus I'm, a sucker for stubby bottles, so ...
My expectations were low.
The beer pours a beautiful amber red. with a nice malty nose. It has a pleasantly sweet and malty flavor and its low ABV would make it a decent brew for a summer backyard BBQ.
It is much better than I was hoping for.

ABV 5.4%
