Sierra Nevada Brewing (Chico, CA)
"We built our first brewhouse using recycled dairy equipment. We had to test our handiwork, so we loaded it up with a heavy, dark Stout. That first batch was a 13-hour labor of love, and when we sipped the first bottle, we knew we had a keeper. With a nod to the West Coast, we balance Stout’s deep, roasted malt flavors with earthy, whole-cone hops."
Smooth, balanced, and drinkable. What more could you ask?
I like stout beer. But it seems brewers are driven to add all sorts of unnecessary ingredients these days. Don't get me wrong, some are quite good, but this is perhaps the most enjoyable stout I've had ... perhaps not "the best" but there is a distinction I can easily make.
